I had my camera on me when I went to visit Casa Azul Mexican Restaurant in Soi Ari here in Bangkok and decided to do some quick snaps of the gorgeous place. Shooting with an ultra wide angle lens is definitely the way to go with interior! Note, that these are only snaps, not an actual professional shoot!
The place was modeled after the original Casa Azul in the Coyoacan district of Mexico. It was where Frida Kahlo grew up, but after she passed, her husband Diego Rivera (also a famous artist) donated it and is now a museum for people to visit.
Obviously, blue is the dominant colour throughout the establishment, but the green, yellow and red accents really bring it to life. You can actually see from the outside already that the place is going to be an artist’s haven. There’s an abundance of flowers and plants scattered throughout, which surely is a bit of a hassle to look after, but definitely adds that extra nice homely touch to it.
I am quite happy with how the images turned out, as the lighting in there wasn’t the greatest after the sun has set. There’s just so many intricate details all over the place. It’s nice to shoot really wide and capture it all, but next time I head there, I’ll be bringing my 85mm and possibly a macro lens to really get into the nitty gritty.
