Wat Hua Lamphong – Coffin Temple

Whenever someone asks me for a suggestion to shoot at a beautiful temple without the hoards of tourists, I immediately blurt out ‘Wat Hua Lamphong’. It’s extremely easy to get to because it sits right on top of the Sam Yan MRT Station, but most taxi drivers in Bangkok will know the name anyway. The cost for foreigners to enter is 40 baht each. The thing with this temple is that it is raised and there is a nice wide staircase leading up to it – great for pictures. From up there you’re able to look around at the skyscrapers …

Lightroom Presets Save The Day

I go out and shoot a ton of images at time at various locations in Bangkok. Most of the time it’s those sweet honey-mooners or a family with small children that want to capture their magical time here in Thailand. During the peak seasons, I sometimes go to the Grand Palace and surrounding area 2-3 times a week just to go shoot some vacation photography. Needless to say, I had to quickly figure out a way to edit my photos in the most efficient time possible while maintaining the highest of quality. There is a fine line of speeding up …

Best Floating Market in Thailand

The floating market that everyone raves about and wants to get to and take wonderful pictures is called Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which literally translates to ‘travel freely’ and is actually located in Ratchaburi province just outside Bangkok, about 1 hour drive with no traffic. Damnoen Saduak got it’s name because it is actually a manmade canal that stretches 32 km to link Mae Khlong River to the Chinese river ways (between Ratchaburi and Samutsakhon Provinces). There are many long tail boat operators to choose from, some even with bolted on roofs to keep you out from the harsh sun, …

What to see and do at Wat Pho

There are many temples scattered throughout Thailand, and Bangkok for that matter. But one that cannot be missed on your visit to The Land of Smiles is Wat Phra Chetuphon aka Wat Pho. It is located right next to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, but closes at a later time at 5pm, so what visitors usually do is visit the other two and then walk on over to The Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Entrance to the temple is 200 baht for foreigners and locals like me get in free. Just make sure you are wearing respectable clothing …

A Stroll Through Old Bangkok

OK, this couple was just adorable to shoot we had while exploring the old town. I went to meet them at the trendy Sala Rattanakosin Hotel right across from The Temple of Dawn. Of course we couldn’t just leave without shooting a few shots with Wat Arun in the background. It was a photo begging to happen. Ryan had found me on a directory amongst other Bangkok photographers and luckily I stood out from the crowd! He emailed me just over a month before the actual shooting date and was able to lock something in easily. – The wonders of …

Bangkok Vacation Photography

It’s been a hectic past couple of months here in Bangkok! The influx of tourists during the cooler months have given me a lot of photography work. Especially the kind that I love; Vacation photography! If you’re not in the know, it’s basically when you go on a holiday to another country you contact and hire a local photographer that knows the venue off by heart to photograph you. It’s sometimes called destination photography as well. There are usually certain packages you can choose from depending on how much your budget and time constraints are. Definitely one of the better …
